John focuses his consulting on helping leaders drive toward improved business results.
John is both an individual and team coach. He consults on a wide variety of people issues, including business unit alignment, talent reviews and employee engagement tied to the business.
John has been with Strategic Talent Solutions since 2005. He has helped the firm establish and develop its approach to team coaching. In addition to coaching, clients frequently ask John to assist them with the identification and development of high potential employees.
Separately, given his ability to bring diverse groups to a solution for the business, he is asked to facilitate leadership meetings when the topics are more strategic rather than focused solely on talent and talent management.
John’s individual clients include executives, professionals (physicians, attorneys and consultants) in for-profit, not-for-profit, and academic settings. His clients include Lurie Children’s Hospital, Kerry Americas, The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, BCU, Elkay Manufacturing, and Eclipse.
Before joining STS, John was a partner at Hewitt. Over 19 years, he worked in Hewitt’s communication practice, as an executive in Hewitt's e-solution health care benefits business and as a Talent & Organizational Consultant. He was a managing consultant and was responsible for the overall relationship and increasing market share of targeted Hewitt clients including Caterpillar Inc., William Wrigley Jr. Company, Allstate, HSBC North America and Navistar.
John teaches at two Big Ten schools. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Northwestern University School of Education and Social Policy, Center for Learning and Organization Change. He also teaches at the University of Illinois, College of Law. He was a book review editor for “People and Strategy,” the journal of the Human Resources Planning Society. John holds a B.A. in Journalism from Creighton University and an M.S.J. from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
